Target group for the Master Black Belt programme
The Master Black Belt programme is intended for already certified and experienced Black Belts who want to further professionalise and train to become a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt. The Master Black Belt is the highest level within the Lean Six Sigma discipline and is regarded as the pinnacle of a Lean Six Sigma career. The level of this programme corresponds to higher professional education (HBO).
The duration of the Master Black Belt training is personalised. It varies depending on the knowledge and experience the Black Belt has gained over the years. As a guideline, a Master Black Belt trajectory typically consists of around 7 days. These 7 days include training, coaching, and peer review. In addition, you will work on a project, programme, or deployment, which may increase the overall intensity.
The Master Black Belt programme is a fully customised trajectory. It begins with an intake with the potential Master Black Belt. During this session, the current knowledge level is assessed and the requirements to achieve the Master Black Belt level are identified.

Content of the Master Black Belt programme
During an intake interview with a Master Black Belt from Lean Six Sigma Groep, we assess where you currently stand in your career and what is required for you to become a Master Black Belt.
We determine your current position in your Lean Six Sigma journey and establish learning objectives. This is based on your existing knowledge level and the experience you have gained so far. Together, we agree on the next steps toward achieving the Master Black Belt level.
This is documented in a proposal in which the Master Black Belt learning programme is further developed.
Coaching in the Master Black Belt trajectory
Throughout your Master Black Belt trajectory, you will receive intensive coaching from one of our Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belts. They provide support and guidance throughout your personalised programme.

Master Black Belt training programme
The programme may include the following components:
- Attending training modules – Any gaps in knowledge are addressed. This may involve deepening specific techniques or developing skills such as executing Policy Deployment.
- Training Green and/or Black Belts – As a Master Black Belt, you operate at an expert level. If needed or desired, you may further build your experience by serving as a guest instructor for parts of the Green Belt or Black Belt programme.
- Content deepening and broadening – To gain greater context and insight, focus sessions with Lean Six Sigma professionals, “Leanspiration” events, or company visits may be included. This allows you to develop broad expertise through practical Lean Six Sigma activities.
- Lean Six Sigma Policy Deployment – To earn the title of Master Black Belt, you must demonstrate Master Black Belt–level performance. You are involved in improvement programmes and the rollout of Lean Six Sigma principles within the organisation. You can demonstrate this level by carrying out a Policy Deployment, supported intensively by our Master Black Belts.
Regardless of your starting experience, we assess your development needs together. Based on this, we create a customised proposal using the components of the programme above.

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certificate
Lean Six Sigma Groep is accredited by LCS, IASSC and CEDEO, and is registered with CRKBO. This ensures that the training meets international standards and requirements, and guarantees the quality of our programmes.
Upon completion of the training, you will receive an LCS Lean Six Sigma Groep certificate of participation. In addition, it is possible to become fully certified in practice as a Lean Black Belt. The following requirements apply:
- Certificate of participation. This certificate is awarded after completing the full training. A maximum of one training day may be missed.
- Theory exam. This exam consists of both multiple-choice and open questions.
- Two practical assignments. As the project leader of an improvement team, you complete Lean Six Sigma practical assignments within an organisation. These assignments demonstrate your ability to analyse a process and implement improvements with measurable results. The assignments are assessed by a Black Belt from Lean Six Sigma Groep. Upon successful completion, you will receive the full LCS Lean Six Sigma Groep Black Belt Certificate.
